Do you know that feeling when you realize what someone has done and you’d like to scream “What were you thinking!” At first glance you want to say “Those are unusual mounts.” and leave it at that. A more studious approach reveals that someone had altered a beautiful early 19th century bagpipe by installing discs atop the original mounts. There is some speculation as to who the maker might be however I won’t muddy the waters by dropping names here. I brought a couple of pictures into photoshop and removed the retro-fit discs just for fun.
