This is a very interesting bagpipe. Cocuswood with bone ferrules and ivory mounts. It might be an early Thomas or Alexander Glen bagpipe or, as suggested by a well-respected curator, it might be the work of Donald MacDonald. When I study these bagpipes I’m looking for consistency and care. Each radius, each bead, each scribe-line. Each and all tells us a story about the hands that made it.
