Wood mount Henderson pipes are among my favorite. I played Gabriel (top) in a few top bands until 2000 when I went with my full silver MacLellan Millennium. It created quite a stir in the circle however the MacLellan more than held its own. I hated to part with Gabriel however I’m pleased that it’s being played at a very high level and being cared for as I would.
The flat-combed set would have been one of the lower-end pipes produced by Henderson. Do not kid yourself. They are excellent musical instruments.
The 1966 set below is supported by the original receipt and certainly helps us unravel the 1960’s with Henderson bagpipes. You can see some of the changes (profiles and details) that were taking place at that time.
