The bagpipe above was offered at auction several years ago. I kept the pictures not knowing if I would ever use them until the bagpipe below came to my attention. There may be a connection. It’s certainly worth considering.
This Henderson bagpipe has silver that was tested and hallmarked in 1931. The story was that it was made for the Glasgow Empire Exhibition in 1938 and was acquired by a piper sometime thereafter. Following WWII the bagpipe changed hands and wound up in Detroit Michigan where they were played until about 1990. They surfaced recently and are now with a trusted piper in the Detroit area.
I was not able to find anything about this particular set however it seems that Henderson may have made a small number of carved bagpipes, the whereabouts of most being unknown.
