Although tempting to associate this item with the bagpipe seen elsewhere stamped “J. GRANT” other than the name and font we have no information on either maker and no real evidence of belonging. Without documentation regarding makers by that name we are better to accept what we have been given and leave it at that. The chanter is the property of Andreas Hartmann-Virnich and is of a style consistent with chanters known to have been made ca 1790 – 1810.
The pictures to the right also compare the W. GRANT stamp with the J. GRANT stamp. Interesting, eh?
