What little information exists can be found in Jeannie Campbell’s “Highland Bagpipe Makers”. She found a Walter Fairgrieve born in Edinburgh in 1874 that was a wood turner, however no business in that name. Jeannie surmises that he might have worked for one of the Edinburgh bagpipe makers and did some work on-the-side, perhaps with every intention of establishing his own business.
