The style of the mounts suggest pre-1850. I'd like to get closer to this set and perhaps more could be learned. The Peter Henderson papers came along with the set however I'm pretty certain that there is no connection between the papers and the pipes. Interesting though, the catalog claims "since 1868" however no record of Henderson being in business from that time exists. Record do state that, in 1880 he was named as the successor to Donald MacPhee. Jeannie Campbell mentions a connection to Alexander Glen in Edinburgh, so Peter may have learned his trade following that path.
