This Alexander Glen bagpipe came with strong proof of its provenance. I played pipes in the Metro Toronto Police Pipe Band with Gord MacRae sometime around 1994 for a very brief time. His bagpipe (pictured herein) passed through Jim McGillivray's hands at one point. I'm not sure where it is at the present time.

The bagpipe was originally awarded to Archibald Forbes at the Perth Highland Games in 1865. It is interesting to note that Alexander Glen and Duncan McDougall are listed among the judges. Forbes was awarded this bagpipe for taking 1st place in the "Pibrocks" event. (The Perthshire Advertiser 1865) The style or the bagpipe is already taking on a more modern look than earlier examples of Glen's work. Forbes died in October 1871 "in his 66th or 67th year."
